Virtual Classroom

Welcome to ECOTEACH Virtual Classroom

The ECOTEACH Virtual Classroom is the central learning platform of the European project ECOTEACH (Teaching Science and Mathematics through Environment-Based Learning for Disadvantaged Students and Schools), co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. This platform provides teachers, educators, and school professionals with innovative pedagogical resources designed to improve the teaching of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) through Environment-Based Learning (EBL). ECOTEACH promotes an educational approach that connects scientific and mathematical knowledge with real environmental challenges. By using the natural and social environment as a learning context, teachers can help students better understand complex scientific concepts while developing critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and environmental awareness. The Virtual Classroom offers a structured set of learning resources, training materials and digital tools that support teachers working particularly in disadvantaged schools and learning environments, where innovative and engaging teaching approaches are essential to motivate students and foster inclusive learning.

What you will find on this platform

The ECOTEACH Virtual Classroom provides access to a comprehensive collection of educational resources developed throughout the project.

Conceptual and Pedagogical Framework
A set of pedagogical guidelines explaining how Environment-Based Learning can be used to teach science and mathematics, including the educational principles, teaching methodologies and theoretical foundations that support the ECOTEACH approach.

Electronic Database of Educational Resources

A curated collection of national and international educational resources related to:

  • Environment-Based Learning
  • STEM education
  • Environmental sustainability
  • Innovative teaching methodologies
  • Digital tools for science learning

These resources provide teachers with practical inspiration and examples that can be integrated into classroom activities.

Hands-on Activities and Teaching Materials
A series of practical learning activities designed to help teachers implement environment-based STEM learning in real educational contexts. These materials encourage experimentation, observation, and inquiry-based learning.

Assessment and Evaluation Tools
Tools and methodologies that support teachers in evaluating students’ learning progress, engagement and competences developed through environment-based STEM activities.

Online Training Course
A flexible online training pathway that allows educators to explore the ECOTEACH methodology, discover innovative teaching approaches, and learn how to design engaging STEM learning experiences connected to environmental issues.

Who is this platform for?

The ECOTEACH Virtual Classroom has been designed primarily for:

  • School teachers, especially those teaching science and mathematics
  • Educators and trainers working in formal and non-formal education
  • School leaders and educational professionals interested in innovative pedagogical approaches
  • Organisations supporting disadvantaged learners and schools

The platform is open and accessible to anyone interested in improving STEM education through environmental learning.

Why ECOTEACH?

Today’s students face complex global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and sustainable resource management. These challenges require not only scientific knowledge but also the ability to understand real-world systems and develop solutions. By integrating environmental contexts into STEM education, ECOTEACH helps teachers create more engaging and meaningful learning experiences that connect classroom knowledge with the world around us. Through this Virtual Classroom, educators can access practical tools, innovative methodologies and collaborative resources that support more inclusive, interactive and future-oriented education.
