Young Reporters for the Environment Greece

Short description
Young Reporters for the Environment Greece is an educational programme coordinated nationally by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature. It encourages students to investigate environmental issues and communicate their findings through articles, photography, video and school-community dissemination. It is a valuable project resource for ECOTEACH because it combines environmental inquiry, data interpretation, communication and civic engagement. Teachers can adapt it to classroom-based STEM tasks, such as investigating local air quality, school waste, coastal pollution, green spaces, water use or climate-related risks. Students can collect evidence, conduct interviews, organise findings, use basic statistics and present proposed solutions. The project is especially relevant for disadvantaged learners because it offers multiple forms of expression beyond written tests. Learners can participate through photography, oral interviews, teamwork, short videos, posters, simple surveys and local observations. It is also low-resource, since activities can be implemented with basic school equipment or shared mobile devices, while the strongest element is student-led investigation and public communication.
