Meteo.gr – Weather Forecast and Observation Platform

Meteo.gr is a Greek weather forecast and observation platform operated by the National Observatory of Athens. It provides weather forecasts, maps, station data, wind and wave information, dust forecasts and measurements from automatic meteorological stations. It is highly relevant for ECOTEACH because it gives teachers and students free access to real environmental data that can be used in science and mathematics lessons. Classroom-oriented examples include recording daily temperature, comparing local weather with regional forecasts, creating graphs, calculating averages, studying heatwaves, investigating wind patterns, or discussing links between weather, climate and human activity. The resource is useful for disadvantaged schools because it does not require laboratory infrastructure or paid software; a teacher can project the platform in class, print selected data or ask students to work in groups with shared devices. It also supports inclusive digital learning because visual maps, tables and diagrams allow students with different learning strengths to access and interpret environmental information.
