Skills Labs

Skills Labs is a national educational initiative coordinated by the Institute of Educational Policy that integrates interdisciplinary and skill-based learning into compulsory education. The programme includes thematic units on environment, science, technology, active citizenship and digital literacy. It is highly relevant for ECOTEACH because it provides a structured framework for implementing environment-based learning through inquiry, project work and collaborative activities. Teachers are supported with pedagogical materials that connect scientific and mathematical concepts with real-world contexts. The initiative is particularly beneficial for disadvantaged learners, as it promotes inclusive and flexible teaching approaches that reduce dependence on traditional, text-heavy instruction. It supports the development of critical thinking, problem-solving and communication skills while encouraging student participation. As a national project, it offers strong alignment with curriculum priorities and high transferability across different school settings.
