Climate Action Project
Short description
The Climate Action Project is an international classroom-based initiative that enables teachers and students to collaborate around climate change and environmental action. It is particularly relevant for ECOTEACH because it provides a concrete, school-oriented model for connecting science, mathematics and environmental learning through real-world challenges. Students can investigate the causes and effects of climate change, collect local evidence, compare findings with classrooms in other countries, and design small-scale actions for their school or community. For disadvantaged schools, the project is valuable because it can be implemented with limited resources: observation, discussion, drawings, simple surveys, local temperature records, waste audits or classroom presentations can form the basis of meaningful learning. It also supports inclusion by giving students different roles, such as researcher, interviewer, data collector, artist, presenter or action planner. Classroom examples may include comparing local climate impacts, creating a school climate pledge, calculating waste reduction or presenting student solutions to the community.
