GENIUS Olympiad Greece

Short description
Genius Olympiad Greece is the Greek national implementation of the international environmental innovation competition coordinated by Eduact with NOESIS. It engages secondary students in producing projects related to science, environment, innovation and sustainability. It is relevant for ECOTEACH because it promotes student-led inquiry, investigation, design and public presentation around environmental challenges, all of which align well with environment-based STEM learning. As a project resource, it shows how environmental issues can mobilise motivation, creativity and scientific thinking in adolescent learners. It is also useful for disadvantaged schools because it can stimulate participation through project work, mentoring and school-based innovation, even when schools do not have advanced laboratory facilities. Its competitive element can additionally support visibility and student aspiration.
