Let’s Do It Greece – School Environmental Volunteering Actions

Short description
Let’s Do It Greece is a nationwide environmental volunteering initiative that mobilises schools, local communities, municipalities and citizens around practical environmental actions, such as clean-ups, forest protection and awareness campaigns. As a good practice, it is relevant for ECOTEACH because it turns environmental learning into visible action and helps students understand the connection between science, mathematics and real local problems. Teachers can use participation in the initiative as the basis for classroom activities: students can estimate waste quantities, classify materials, calculate recycling percentages, create maps of action points, compare before-and-after conditions and present evidence to the school community. The practice is well suited to disadvantaged schools because it does not require advanced equipment, paid digital tools or laboratory infrastructure. It is based on outdoor learning, cooperation, observation, simple data collection and local participation. It also supports inclusion because students can take different roles, including observers, measurers, photographers, interviewers, presenters and action coordinators.
