In practice: Integrating climate education through STEM
Short description
This UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning case study presents a school-based example of integrating climate education through STEM using hands-on projects such as ecosystem simulations and renewable energy design. It is a strong international good practice because it shows a concrete school implementation, not just a theoretical framework. The example illustrates how climate and environmental challenges can be used to organise meaningful learning tasks that combine science knowledge, engineering thinking and collaborative inquiry. For ECOTEACH, it is useful as a transferable reference on how environmental themes can anchor STEM teaching in ways that increase relevance and motivation. It is also suitable for disadvantaged contexts because the model emphasises project design, experimentation and local problem-solving rather than passive content transmission.
