Interdisciplinary project-based environmental design
Short description
This Greek methodological example uses interdisciplinary project-based learning to engage students in designing environmentally friendly buildings. As an approach, it combines mathematics, science, engineering, creativity and social relevance around a real design challenge. It is highly appropriate for ECOTEACH because environment-based learning becomes stronger when students are asked to create solutions, not only describe problems. The method is also supportive of disadvantaged learners because it includes visual, collaborative and hands-on elements that allow participation beyond traditional text-heavy instruction. Teachers can adapt the same logic to other sustainability themes such as transport, water use or school energy saving. For the Database, it offers a concrete pedagogical model with clear classroom applicability and strong alignment with STEM and environmental integration.
