Aim of the course
This Learning Unit supports teachers in integrating Mathematics and STEM concepts into Environment-Based Learning through authentic environmental investigations. Teachers will explore how issues in the school and local community can become meaningful contexts for measurement, data collection and analysis, mathematical reasoning and interdisciplinary problem-solving. Through practical ECOTEACH examples, the Unit demonstrates how learners can collect and interpret real-world data, apply STEM knowledge and develop evidence-based solutions to sustainability challenges. Attention is also given to accessible investigations, collaborative roles and different ways for learners to participate while working towards common learning goals.
Main ideas
- Environmental challenges provide authentic contexts for Mathematics and interdisciplinary STEM learning.
